I have stayed in over 60 National Park Lodges and almost every Yosemite National Park lodge.
My articles come from my personal experiences staying here. I try to pass down the most valuable information in detail so that you can plan an epic adventure and have your own unforgettable Yosemite Experience!
Yosemite National Park is the perfect place to wake up and start your day. While sipping coffee, you can view some of its most iconic attractions like Yosemite Falls and Half Dome to wildlife like bears.
You also wake up in the park and begin exploring from your front door. Each lodge offers excellent access to the park and a unique experience, giving you a jump on the big rush to get there. Anyone who has spent time in Yosemite lately knows how much of an advantage this is!
You will want to make reservations as soon as possible since these lodges fill up quickly. It is worth checking multiple times to see if a room opens up as you plan your Yosemite vacation.
Yosemite National Park Entrance Fee
Park entrance fees are separate from camping and lodging fees.
Park Entrance Pass - $35.00 Per private vehicle (valid for 1-7 days from the date of purchase)
Park Entrance Pass - Motorcycle - $30.00 Per motorcycle (valid for 1-7 days from the date of purchase)
Per-Person Entrance Pass - $20.00 Visitors 16 years or older who enter on foot, bicycle, or as part of an organized group not involved in a commercial tour.
Annual Park Entrance Pass - $70.00, Admits pass holder and all passengers in a non-commercial vehicle. Valid for one year from the month of purchase.
$0.00 for Education/Academic Group
$300.00 for Non-Commercial Group (16+ persons)
$45.00-$125.00 for Commercial Sedan with 1-6 seats and non-commercial groups (16+ persons)
$125.00 for Commercial Van with 7-15 seats
$200.00 for Commercial Mini-Bus with 16-25 seats
$300.00 for Commercial Motor Coach with 26+ seats

$80.00 - For the America the Beautiful/National Park Pass. The pass covers entrance fees to all US National Park Sites and over 2,000 Federal Recreation Fee Sites for an entire year and covers everyone in the car for per-vehicle sites and up to 4 adults for per-person sites.

Yosemite Lodging Map
Yosemite is a very large park and there is lodging options from the South Entrance to Tuolumne Meadows and everything in between. Picking the right location will afford you more time exploring the park. The maps below show where lodging is available and where it is located in the park.


Park Ranger John Pro Tip
Did you know that the Ahwahnee Hotel was called the Majestic Yosemite Hotel at one point? The Wawona Hotel was formerly called the Big Trees Lodge, and Curry Village was called Half Dome Village.
In 2016, there was a legal dispute between the US Government, which owns the properties, and the outgoing concessionaire, who, at the time, claimed rights to the trademarked names Ahwahnee Hotel, Curry Village, and Wawona Hotel. The names were restored in 2019 as part of a 2019 lawsuit settlement.
During the time of the lawsuit (2016-2019), the names of these areas of the park were temporarily changed.

Ahwahnee Hotel
The Ahwahnee Hotel is one of the crown jewels of the National Park Lodges! It epitomizes the National Park Rustic design, also known as Parkitecture. The lodge was built to highlight its surroundings of Half Dome, Glacier Point, and Yosemite Falls.
You never know who you may run into at the Ahwahnee as past guests include Queen Elizabeth II, Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F Kennedy, Ronald Regan, and Barrack Obama. Famous actors like Judy Garland, Charlie Chaplin, and Walt Disney have stayed at the Ahwahnee!
This historic lodge was incredibly luxurious when it was built and well-maintained over the years. Today, the Ahwahnee offers guests the opportunity to stay in the heart of Yosemite Valley, where the rooms are lovely and historic!
The Ahwahnee also offer special events like Chef's Holidays(Special tasting and wine pairings), Vintner's Holidays(winemaker dinners), and, of course, the Holiday tradition of the Bracebridge Dinner, an unforgettable holiday experience filled with traditional Christmas festivities!

Yosemite Valley Lodge
Yosemite Valley Lodge is centrally located in the heart of the Yosemite Valley and across the street from Yosemite Falls. This lodge allows exploring the area around Yosemite Falls early or late in the day when it isn't as crowded.
The lodge buildings are spread out over the property. You will also find the fantastic Base Camp Eatery that offers many different dining options, including Starbucks.

Wawona Hotel
The historic Wawona Hotel is located at the park's southern entrance near the Yosemite Pioneer Village and Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. The hotel features authentic Victorian-style architecture, including authentic period furniture and marble top dressers, showcasing the authenticity of this mid-1800s hotel.
One of the great things about the Wawona Hotel is the easy access to Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias and Glacier Point.
The Wawona Hotel also manages the 9-hole Wawona Hotel Golf Course. It was the first regulation golf to be opened in the Sierra Nevada in 1918.

Curry Village: Stoneman Cottage, Cabins and Tents
I love Curry Village! It is centrally located to many of the parks' well-known hiking trails, and the fall colors here are epic! If you stay in the winter, the ice rink is open with views of half dome!
Curry Village Cabins are marvelous! They are located in the heart of Curry Village and offer the opportunity to stay in a cute little cabin.

Curry Village Canvas Tents
The canvas tents in Curry Village are Yosemite's version of glamping. During the summer, the tents are not heated.
They have an electrical light but no electrical plug-ins.

Housekeeping Camp
Housekeeping Camp includes part concrete and part canvas "tents". There is a whole village of these structures spread around the camp. Visitors love bringing lights and decorating their tents, bringing a fun atmosphere.

High Sierra Camps
The High Serra Camps are perhaps some of the most popular tents in Yosemite! So much so that there has been a lottery in place for years. You may ask, what's the appeal? Imagine hiking deep into Yosemite without having to pack a tent!
Location: 5 High Sierra Camp locations are all reached by hiking or mule.

Reservations: Reservations are done through a lottery system. The 2021 lottery was held in October 2020.
Are Yosemite National Park Lodges, cabins, and tents pet-friendly?
Pets are NOT allowed in hotels/lodges, wilderness, beaches, meadows, shuttle buses, or public buildings, with the exception of service animals. All campgrounds except walk-in campgrounds are pet-friendly.
Yosemite National Park Lodging Reservations
Reservations are NEEDED when it comes to planning a stay within Yosemite Lodges! The park receives over 4 million visitors a year!
You will want to make a reservation as far in advance as you can. The reservations are open a year in advance, and during the busy summer months, they fill up quickly.
