Lewis Lake Campground is an 85-site campground located in the southern portion of Yellowstone National Park. It is the closest campground to the southern entrance.
Lewis Lake Campground - Yellowstone National Park
Lewis Lake is named after Meriweather Lewis, the commander of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The Lewis Lake Campground Yellowstone is just steps away from the southeast shore of Lewis Lake, the third-largest of Yellowstone's fresh water high elevation lakes and only 10 miles south of Lake Yellowstone. other natural features include Lewis Falls It is no surprise that the lake is popular for fishing and has Brown Trout, Brook Trout and Lake Trout. People can bring non-motorized boats, motorized boats, a canoe, and/or a kayak to enjoy the lake. Just remember that all vessels must first get an aquatic invasive species inspection performed by park staff before launching into the water. Call (307)344-2107 for general information. Nearby attractions include Moose Falls, Lewis Falls, and the West Thumb Geyser Basin. You can also visit The Upper Geyser Basin, Old Faithful, and Yellowstone Lake.

Per-Person Entrance Pass - $20.00 Visitors 16 years or older who enter on foot, bicycle, or as part of an organized group not involved in a commercial tour.
Annual Park Entrance Pass - $70.00, Admits pass holder and all passengers in a non-commercial vehicle. Valid for one year from the month of purchase.
$20.00 for non-commercial groups (16+ persons)
$20.00 for a Commercial Sedan with 1-6 seats. The cost is $25.00 + $20.00 per person.
$125 for a Commercial Van with 7-15 seats
$200.00 for a Commercial Mini-bus with 16-25 seats
$300.00 for a Commercial Motor Coach with 26+ seats
$80.00 For the America the Beautiful/National Park Pass. The pass covers entrance fees to all US National Park Sites and over 2,000 Federal Recreation Fee Sites for an entire year and covers everyone in the car for per-vehicle sites and up to 4 adults for per-person sites.

Make sure to check with the park for the most updated camping fees. Interagency Access Pass (Disability) and Senior Pass (formerly known as the Golden Age or Golden Access Pass) holders receive a 50% discount. Rates do not include taxes or utility fees and are subject to change.
Lewis Lake Campground Reservations
80% of sites are reservable six months in advance, while the remaining 20% of sites are available two weeks in advance.

Note: There are two different Reservation services for campgrounds in Yellowstone National Park. Use Recreation.gov for Yellowstone Lewis Lake Campground, Indian Creek Campground, Mammoth Campground, Norris Campground, Pebble Creek Campground, Slough Creek Campground, and Tower Fall Campground.
You can use the Yellowstone National Park Lodges website to make a reservation for Fishing Bridge RV Park, Bridge Bay Campground, Canyon Campground, Madison Campground, or Grant Village Campgrounds.

Located on the main road between the South Entrance and West Thumb.
Lewis Lake Campground Regulations
The maximum number of people in a campsite: Maximum 6 persons per site The number of cars per campsite: Tent sites allow for up to two tents and two vehicles. RV sites allow for one RV (tow included) only. (For reference, 2 motorcycles = 1 vehicle). All wheeled vehicles including trailers and motorcycles, must stay on established roadways or parking areas.
Check-in Time: Check-in any time of day that there is an unoccupied site. Checkout time: 10 AM.
Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Maximum Stay: Camping is limited to 14 days from July 1 through Labor Day, and 30 days for the rest of the year. There is no stay limit at the Fishing Bridge RV Park.
Pets Allowed: Pets must be physically controlled at all times: they must be in a car, in a crate, or on a leash no more than six feet long. They are not allowed on trails or boardwalks, in the backcountry, or in thermal areas. You will want to be aware of the park pet policy

What not to forget for the Lewis Lake Campground
Insect repellent is always a great idea outdoors, especially around any body of water.
We use Permethrin Spray on our clothes before our park trips. Please read my article on preventing biting insects while enjoying the outdoors.
Sunscreen - I buy environmentally friendly sunscreen whenever possible because you inevitably pull it out at the beach.

Bring your water bottle and plenty of water with you. Plastic water bottles are not sold in the park.
